XBox 360 vs. PS 3 vs. Nintendo Wii

To hear their supporters argue the points, the comparison between XBox 360, Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii is the gamer fight of the century. These three major video-game consoles are not only fighting each other on store shelves, but in the hearts of their supporters. But which is best for you?

The intense game-playing fanatic is probably going to be happier with either the XBox 360 or the Playstation 3. This is because of these have technology which supports the latest, most spectacular graphics and sound available. The choice of which of those two to select comes down to a couple of decisions.

First, is cost an issue with you? If that’s the determining factor, then XBox 360 is the right choice. Its bare-bones version can be had for as little as £159, while the cheapest you’ll find a new PS3 is £350. With both units, obviously, there are upgrade options that pushes the cost a bit higher.

But if cost is not an overriding issue, there are things to recommend the PS3. For instance, it’s the only one of the three consoles to incorporate a Blu-Ray player, making the Sony device more than a game system, but a complete entertainment system.

And then we come to the Wii. If you love fully-interactive gaming experiences, and graphics are not as important, the Wii is a blast. Most of its games involve you moving your body in some way: You swing a virtual “racket” or bowl with a virtual “balling ball,” and so on. It’s fun in a way neither of the other consoles manages. And it helps that you can buy it for as little as £170!

Personally I prefer the PS3. It gives me games in high-definition, has a user-friendly interface and plays Blu-ray movies. Price up a blu-ray player and see what I mean!! It has built-in Wi-Fi an 80GB hard drive and online play is free, what more could you ask? The HDMI output with 1080p support is brilliant on my 42in HD plasma.
