4 out of 5 stars deserves a 5 but dosent get it   August 27, 2010
J. S. Evans (Newport, Gwent United Kingdom)
Why? Well it is a great game and it should of got a 5, however there were just a few niggles with me. First of all its a final fantasy game, in the past all the ff games have been very long. This one however is very short and will probably be completed by most people in a week to a week and half. second niggle was there was a lot of running around between destinations, yes you can ride on a chocobo but its basically the same speed and the train stations are few and far between. third niggle is the final level is incredibly hard and will have you pulling your hair out. This is still a great game though and should of been up there in that rare list of great games that come along every so often, unfortunately it falls slighty short due to the aforementoned.

4 out of 5 stars hoping for a wii sequel   July 22, 2010
Fantastic Miss Fox (UK)
This game is really fun to play, looks great and has a large immersive world to explore. Ive never played a FF game before as im a fan of realtime combat, but i have to say the world and story design are very nice. Yes the voice overs need a lot to be appreciated and the female characters are mostly annoying but the different towns and mini games make up for this. The gameplay is constantly being shook up, from shooting in the air to lifting and throwing enemies. There is even some platforming in it. Don't expect much RPG elements tho, you can upgrade your character with items but then again you can play the game without ever changing him. The problem mostly is this game doesn't really know what it it, its a bit of everything. I would say its an action adventure.

The fighting is fun, but you never really get your teeth into it and most enemies you never need to fight. This makes the game a little on the easy side. Since most mini games and RPG elements are entirely optional you don't always get a sense of achievement in the game either. That being said this is a very fun and beautiful game, something lacking on the wii till now. Im hoping for a sequel where they can refine the gameplay and fighting to make something a bit meatier and a lot less confused. That i think would be an amazing game!

3 out of 5 stars Good but could have been better   April 26, 2010

The graphics for this game are really brilliant and really push the wii graphics to the limit.

However, I found the game itself to be not so good. The fight scenes I found annoying as there were no weapons and simply his power that you could use and found this to be annoying, and at some points, difficult to use.

At points I was not able to keep track of the story line as I would have been to busy trying to figure out where I was going next and what I was meant to do.

However, on saying this the game was quite fun and it was amazing to see how far they have come with the graphics but I just felt that it could have been much better.

2 out of 5 stars Disappointing   April 10, 2010

I didn't even care to play through the whole game. Bad graphics, bad voicing and basicly a to childish setting. This game has no soul.

2 out of 5 stars Disappointing for an FF title   March 18, 2010

I have almost all numbered FF titels and was really happy with the release of a new FF on the wii as I don't (yet) own a PS3 (I will buy one soon for FF13).
The game-play needs some getting used to (it's not really fighting with spells or swords, it's about throwing around your enemies), but once mastered, it's much fun. Yet it takes out the creativity in battling, at least for those who like the FF way of fighting. It's not about experience, you can beat the end-boss without fighting any fight that's not part of the story-line. Also, you basically can't die in a boss fight as you are revived without the boss gaining any HP itself, making the game insanely easy (and wasn't the fun of FF that you needed to get stronger to be better at defeating enemies?)

The story-line is amazing. Without ruining the story for you: The Crystal Principle which is needed for all life, but which created Crystal Bearers which are feared. Four "human races" who don't always get along like they should... combined with a nasty bad-guy, a strange best friend, a goody-goody princess and a bratty attractive girl who turns circles around our hero. But the story line is by far not used like it could and it's an incredible shame.
I finished the game in 17hours, which included 4 hours of useless running around because I had no idea where to go (the map showed me I was right where I had to be but nothing happened). I'm used to needing at least 35 hours for a Final Fantasy title, excluding the side-quests. With more story-line (not even a better one, the story itself is great, it's just too short) and more fights, this game would be a 5 star! And now I am nothing but disappointed. Very disappointing for a Final Fantasy game.
