I think I'll go back to Mac. Avoid. August 16, 2010 Lit Up (London) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
Having used a macbook for 3.5 years without issue, I thought I'd switch platforms for a change. I spent months trying to find a laptop that looked as good as a Mac (sorry, I hate ugly technology). After a few months I found this, which looked like macbook pro. So I went with it. Unfortunately not all that glitters is gold. It's Windows 7. Apart from having a ridiculously unhelpful OS (like windows update restarting my computer without my permission, even when I have unsaved documents open) this computer's trackpad doesn't work properly (widely considered to be one of the worst on the market). Now what happens is when I type, the cursor will randomly retreat to another part of the document, so I am typing in a different place for no reason. This is appalling hardware fault that genuinely impedes my usage of the computer. Not only this but sometimes the keyboard doesn't work when waking from sleep.
Now I wish I had saved my money and bought a Macbook Pro. I'll be going back to Mac and OSX as soon as I can afford.
HP pavillion August 4, 2010 stackpoleboy Great little computer - 13 inch screen is just right size for travel - any smaller and I would struggle and any larger and it would not be so portable. The seperate CD / DVD player means weight is reduced to less than 2 kgs. Battery is excellent - c4-6 hrs easily lasts my train journey to and from London each week.
Overall great value - well powerful enough for business and personal use, too much HP software/ bloatware but package is excellent value and looks good to. Fiddly on off switch annoys my fat fingers and silver mouse pad looks lovely when clean but soon marks up with sweaty fingers! Screen resolution could be a bit better when run through my desk top 16 in screen but these are small gripes - this computer is a good move on from my 2 year old Tosh Satellite Pro and would certainly recommend to anyone who wants good computing power but little weight and bulk for travelling at well less than £500.
Generally good July 20, 2010 AKA 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'm not really a techy and bought this as my hubby said it was a good deal. Having had this laptop for nearly two months, I would definitely recommend it to others.
It's lightweight, runs quickly, and cosmetically looks good. The spaced out keys are an interesting feature and I appreciate having to connect the CD drive (included in the package) as it adds to the light weight of the laptop. The CD Drive works quickly even though at times I have found inserting the USB into the laptop a bit difficult (the USB fits really tightly into the port so it's difficult at times to take it out without having the fear that you're going to break the USB).
Also work does need to be done on the Touch pad as all too often, whilst I'm writing, the mouse cursor will find it self elsewhere on the screen (due to the touch pad being sensitive) and therefore I need to stop and reposition the cursor. Even though the Touch Pad does have an off button it's easy to forget to use this when multitasking.
Overall, if you're happy to make do with the USB attachment dilemma and the Touch Pad dilemma then this laptop is a really good laptop to have for studies/work.
Brilliant, only few tiny problems July 16, 2010 F. Moriarty First of all, the laptop looks fantastic, with the stainless steel finish and lovely keyboard. Also, it's very light, which makes it very easy to carry around.
The battery life is miles better than any other laptop I have used, as I could use it for an entire day on just the battery. Even when watching movies, the battery can last for several hours, without the need for a charger. Speaking of watching movies, the LED screen has brilliant quality, although the reflection can be annoying at times.
There is not an integrated DVD drive, rather an external LightScribe drive. This suits me, as an internal one would have made the laptop bigger and heavier. With an external drive, I can keep it away until I need it. Also, it can write in practically any DVD format, which is a huge plus.
On the other hand though, there are one or two small problems. Firstly, when the laptop awakes from sleep mode, the mouse can sometimes freeze, and requires a restart to work again. Also, the speakers just aren't powerful enough. I use headphones a lot of the time, so it doesn't affect me, but it needs to be mentioned.
Still, apart from that, it is a fantastic laptop, and deserves 5 stars nonetheless. It is well recommended to anybody.

Great looking laptop but my hard drive died after 3 months. Very disappointing. Although the Amazon customer service was excellent, a replacement laptop was sent out to me asap and they were very helpful.
