As I write this, the REVO 3600 is being offered here at over 240 quid. This is seriously expensive for this single-core version, and pricey for the dual-core REVO 3610.
We have both of these, and the 3600 struggles with WinXP - after suitable and necessary protection (AntiVirus, proper firewall, anti-Spyware etc, etc) has been installed. It works, yes, but try opening a few tabs in the web browser and see how slow it can get.
With Vista installed, it's a dog. Dunno about Win7, but that is never as fast as XP, so probably not good.
So, there is no value in the installed OS on this machine if it is to work safely and well online.
This REVO 3600 with its single-core Atom (puny Netbook cpu) is best with a good Linux distribution, eg Ubuntu. (ymmv!). Our 3600 works fine this way, and delivers full HD smoothly on a big Panasonic TV. The 3610 with its dual-core Atom is superior in most ways, especially when the OS is carrying out tasks that can be balanced between the two cpu cores. Ubuntu Lucid/Mint9 does this very well for us.
But we paid less than 180 quid for our 3610! And less than 150 for the 3600! New!
So save your pennies for a better offer than this one, would be our advice.

Bought this two weeks ago after much deliberation on whether it would be up to the job of a day to day PC. Well, what can I say; this really is an impressive piece of kit, so much so, I'm probably going to get another one! I'll keep this as my normal PC and have the other as a dedicated home entertainment centre. As far as this one goes, I've loaded the latest Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx, which runs like a dream, and am now dual booting with Vista.
It performs all the tasks I require of it and then some. It doesn't have a footprint as I've fixed it to the back of my monitor with the fixing kit that's provided. It's virtually silent with only some quite fan noise when the processor is put under load. As of yet, I've not explored the excellent nvidia ion graphics capabilities to their fullest extent but the reviews I've read suggest they're impressive.
So to sum up, I would highly recommend it and would encourage anyone to buy one should the need arise to replace their ageing PC, as in my case, with a new one.

as a rule i do not write any reviews,but i wanted to tell everyone what a terrific item this is.
like most people i thought the atom processor would not be up to much,but i was surprised.
first of all i agree with an earlier review to get the best from this you must remove mcafee protection.
when i first started the unit it took ages to start up,but as soon as i removed mcafee and replaced it with avg free it works like a dream,even multi-tasking.
this unit is worth the money even if you only want to watch internet tv on your large screen tv.
i was so happy with this i am going to buy another on pay day.

Windows Vista runs like a tortoise - redefining the meaning of slow.
Linux however brings new life to this machine giving it purpose. Works great when running XBMC and plays 1080 content - which is a great plus.
Do not use it for anything else than media player so can't say how it performs for other tasks.
The internal WiFi card is not great, would definitely not be able to stream any better quality video (good bitrate standard definition XVid or DIVX) in my house so I bought an extenal USB WiFi N dongle and now it works well.

This is a great machine that works well within its remit ie HD and movie playback and Vista capable at an affordable price.
As a second computer setup +/- media center to go with my LCD tv, it does very well. The Experience Nvidia clip was probably the first HD content it has shown and my daughter squealed when the collie came on in HD. It is silent and small and will fit into a shoebox several times over. I researched the market for a small media pc and this ticked all the boxes. Style and unobstrusiveness combined is a bonus.
It also should do well as a first pc, especially if word processing and internet acccess is a priority. I bought this for my Dad just for this purpose and he is going to be finally transported to the 21st century after plugging away for years on his ancient computer.
If you have a VGA monitor/ LCD, you are ready to go. You may have to adjust resolutions if using LCD. The mouse supplied with the bundle is generic, the keyboard is similar to the sony button type.
Setting up the pc is fairly easy, although you should press the corner of the power button till there is a clunk rather than the top. That gave me a big scare and brought visions about returns. I had no trouble with vista and its aeroglass feature worked without any problems. And of course it recognised my internet signal when hooking up. I haven't activated its software yet, preferring to download some comparable freeware which works well.
Its sitting under my tv until Dad shows up, then it will be sorely missed!
