Given the number of glowing reviews received I can only assume I have a faulty product. After running for a few minutes, the fan comes on and creates an intolerable buzzing/vibrating sound, that can only be quenched by gripping the casing of the laptop around the area of the fan.
Also, my 'spacebar' button became partly unresponsive after a relatively short period of use.
Otherwise I am happy with the features of this product, but the buzzing noise makes it practically useless for any work/writing or VoiP communications.

I bought the 5735Z version of this laptop in June 2009.
I am well satisfied overall: the machine is pretty sturdy, the applications run pretty fast, and I particulary enjoy having a numerical keyboard on the RH side as I use figures a lot.
Negative points are: the touchpad often thinks you want to zoom in or out, when you just want to scroll up or down; the charger/adapter is not very robust and gets itself unplugged.

I was looking for a new laptop for my daughter and didn't want to spend too much. I ended up buying this particular one because it was a re-furbished model at a very competitve price. I didn't have high expectations, but have been absolutley blown away by the quality. It's lightweight and very fast. It looks slick, the screen is very sharp and clear and the whole purchase has been agreat success. I upgraded to Windows 7 from Vista and the process was relatively speedy. This is the first Acer I've bought (I usually buy Dell) but even at full price - £100 more than I paid - I would have been very pleased with the purchase. I will buy Acer products again.

Great laptop. Good load of memory (3GB will have you whizzing through the largest of programmes). I work on graphics a lot in my studies and sometimes I'm required to edit some pretty large files. I can do this easily with the memory and the T5800 processor. It never jumps or skips when I'm working, which is excellent. You also get plenty of hard drive space to work with (160GB HDD). The graphics card (Intel 45000MHD) works well with my animations work and the audio speakers (while not great) offer you a decent sound.
The wireless signal has been great for me. My laptop is situated quite a distance from my router and I still get a strong and uninterrupted signal. I can even watch football in HD and I get no interruptions whatsoever. The integrated webcam is a nice feature, useful for using with Skype, it's also quite good quality.
Although Windows Vista has now been succeeded by Windows 7 it's still a great O.S. It's easy to navigate and looks good too.
The laptop comes with three USB ports on the left (which is great since most just seem to have two). The keyboard is also wider, so you get the number keys on as well. The 15.6 inch widescreen is great for watching films on.
Overall a great laptop, well worth the money.

I love it!Living in Spain a lot of time is spent outdoors so it is wonderful to be able to use it with no wires attached.No probs with Windows Vista but would be faultless if the battery lasted for days-not possible yet,I know.
When I think that the first computer I used occupied an air conditioned room and had tape drives the size of a cupboard---------!
