4 out of 5 stars TomTom XL v2   August 22, 2010
Josh
First timer using TomTom seeing other friends already caught on the GPS phase.
Nowadays I don't go anyway without it that is not to say it does not have its problems.
Functionality such as redirecting journey via a POI confuses the unit like mad. Should you wish to take shortcuts disregarding the TomTom for a moment it will ask to reverse over and over even though you eventually joined back to the original route. Nice to have function would be to remember the exact route taken and to save as favourites. v2 is the model with the dashboard mount built in (can be removed if required) although finding a case to store is slightly trickier.
Free frequent updates (new lights, cameras, roads) and customisable functions makes this unit/TomToms a must have.
Battery lasts a good 2 hours and takes a bit less to charge.
Not bad for a unit sub £100.

5 out of 5 stars Brilliant!   August 12, 2010

Never had a satnav before, got a great price on this one and it's been a revelation: switch on, enter postcode, hit 'done' and voila, 2 women in the car telling me where to go (my wife's the other one). Seriously, it's a great gizmo, intuitive to use even if you've never used one before and soon very easy to fine tune to your requirements (unlike my wife). Highly recommended.

4 out of 5 stars TomTom are the bast for Sat Nav's   July 17, 2010

I have had the TomTom One XL v2 coming up for 3 years now and find it very good at getting you where want to go. Although it lets you pick the fastest route. Sometimes telling it to pick the shortest route is sometimes quicker.
Only other thing is on long journeys you have to have this machine connected as the battery only lasts about 2 hours fully charged.
I love how you can conncet the TomTom to the PC then update it via the TomTom map share. Also if you want to can download the latest maps to your TomTom 3 or 4 times a year.
I will only be upgrading to the newer version of this TomTom only if this one ever stops working

2 out of 5 stars Tom Tom XL - hangs when starting up   April 8, 2010

I'm on my second Tom Tom XL. When it works, it's great but more often than not will hang/freeze when you turn it on. It just sits with a frozen screen and doesn't move to the next screen or turn off. Very frustrating. It happened with my first one which was replaced by Tom Tom and a few months down the line the replacement is doing exactly the same thing. There are times when I am ready to throw it out of the window...

It's Ok, mine makes squeaky noises whilst on
(don't know if it's only mine or it's some kind of a fault).
Nice big screen, suction ring works perfect and holds TomTom in place - it has never fallen off.
The battery doesn't last long though.
