Microsoft and Macintosh are in a fierce ad battle, with Mac portraying PC users as kind of geeky and Mac fanatics as hip and cool. Microsoft has fired back with their own campaign in which actual Windows users boast, “I’m a PC!”

But beyond the hype, what’s best for you?

If you intend to make heavy use of graphics and sound programs, there’s a clear consensus that Macintosh does these things better.

While you can do these things on a PC, it’s not as fast or intuitive in Windows programs.

Also, if you prefer a clean, simple interface, you’ll like the Mac’s look better.

The interface on their programs is one that is functional yet stays in the background.

On the other hand, if you want to make sure that you have hundreds and hundreds of compatible programs for your computer and if you want a system that’s not as inexpensive, a PC is the way to go.

As for interface, the Vista (and soon Windows 7) is for those who like a look that’s flashy with a touch of pizzazz.

For the average user, either Mac or PC will get the job done–and it comes down to a matter of budget and taste. Don’t let the computer snobs talk you into something you don’t want or need; get something that works for you.
